MOTHER

      I hear the piano
      Sweet ivory
      A tingle in my ear
The soft hammers on tight string

      She plays in the morning
      As I slowly wake
      Gentle fingers caressing my sleep
      The music fills our house

      I remember all the years
She has filled me with joy
      The days of illness
      And puppy love heartbreaks

      The piano still resonates
      In my memories of home
I left for Germany at 18
      The Sergeants yelling to jump

      All the while the piano
      In my dreams
      Peace and love
      My Mother playing the piano
