TIME TO LOOK AROUND

I walk this road more slowly now
The dirt warm beneath my feet
      The trees are greener
      Full of life
      The scent pine needles
      Aspen reaching for the sky
      Half of life already spent
      Just to get here
      To find some peace within
      I share with others
      What little I have
      Some call me wise
Others say I am a fool
      This I know
      My questions today
      Are better than yesterdays
      Answers are few
      And ever changing
      I see the stars above
A rose blossom in the morning light
      I listen to the stories
Of friends and those who pass by
Mostly I just walk this road
Wondering each day where it will lead
      Always asking why
      So many times why
      The answers aren't enough
      I look inside again
I want peace for all those traveling with me
But they have to find it for themselves
      I can guide and advise
Look to the west or south
But the only answers any of us can hold
      Are within
Touch a child with a smile
      Hold a hand with love
      Too many questions
      The Universe unexplained
Still there is half of life left
      All is not lost
I walk this road more slowly now
There is time to look around
