NIGHT BY NIGHT

      I walked into the garden,
You were sitting on the grass.
Flesh was dangling from you face,
      I caressed you gently.
As I touched you with love
      A light shown.
      You whispered so softly
The morning sun glistening off the dew.
I heard your words as you came back to life.
      A smile to my face
      The dew regained your face
And my love became whole again
As every morning when you come to me
      You never age
      But the darkness of night
      Takes its toll upon you
      Night by night
      Less of your body remains
      For the morning light
My love for you will never die
      But you
My love have been gone to me
      Now for a fortnight
      I smell the rotting
And still I see your beauty.
      My heaven is within you
I dread the passing of each day.
For I know you will whither away
      And soon
I will not be able to hold you in my arms.
      As I hold you
You fall limply into my arms.
No longer stiff as when you first died.
      My love,
I will never let you go to the earth.
It is time now the knife in my hand,
      I will join you
      Eternity will be ours,
      Together.
      I love no other.
