White Bear and Hawk
Sat across the fire
From one another
They talked of wisdom

At each turn of a phase
They laughed
The ideas flowed
From one to the other

The sky opened
Father and Mother
Came to them
They smiled around the fire

All the answers
To every question
Fell into place
The only result was joy

This day White Bear
Found his path
Is there peace in any world
Mother said peace is within and not of any world

White Bear fell backward
He understood
Hawk looked puzzled
Then flew to the stars

Father watched Hawk
With a careful eye
He held out his arm
And Hawk landed

Father said the answer is here
Look into the flame
Hawk with eyes of ice
Melted into self

White Bear and Hawk
Sat across the fire
From one another
The Universe told all its secrets

The sun rose pale orange
The stars dissipating in the morning sky
Laughter and joy filled the air
White Bear and Hawk disappeared
