ALONE

      She sits on the bench

      On a quiet afternoon

      The grass lay around her

      Green and full of life

He had faded from her memories

Distant reminders would appear now and then

Simple things reminiscent of his touch and smile

      Her eyes shone of green

      Reflected light from the grass

What was she to do now

Was there to be love again

      A gentleness in her heart

She craved to be desired and held once more

Yet she felt old and lost

      In her youthful body

      Love, to be loved

Should it be much to ask

In the sunshine of the day

      She sat on a bench

      A quiet afternoon
