A MOTHER THIS LIFE

      Did you see my soul
The day I heard of your coming
You knew me from before and we had touched
      Words spoken while in between

Telling of desires and love for you
      Welcoming and understanding
      No conditions or expectations
The quiet movement of blood flowing

      Through veins still forming
You took from only my love
      Then returned in kind
The insights of a child to mother

      Again and again to learn
Lessons shared lifetimes with no end
You saw my soul and held me close
We did not question this treasure called love
