THE BALLET

      She floats across the floor
On legs that caress the air
The music is part of her while
      She dances with subtle moves

      The lights are low
      The audience quiet
      Anticipating the gentle grace
      That is her

      They watch the private moment
      She shares with them
      On the wooden stage
      Her essence of being

      Every intimate thought
Is expressed in the motion of her body
      She does not hide
But smiles with her arms open wide
