CONTRAST IN MOTION

A hand rises from the water

In a second his body follows

      Piercing into the air

Ripples flow circler in all directions

Then a wave comes upon him

Discarding what impact he had made on the water

Sand and water pull at his feet

As the wave retreats back to sea

The sun reflects off droplets on his skin

      Hair flattened and dripping

His body cold in the water

Contrasting the warmth of the sun on his head

The taste of salt in his mouth

      Tingling in his sinuses

      Burning slightly in his eyes

All amplifying the continuity of the suns rays

Each step a battle through waves of water

As he moves to shore, the sand weak beneath his feet

His body lifts with the incline of the beach

      Heartened by the growing heat

      Thawing with physical emotion

Vibrant in being immersed in this moment

Passing exuberant from water to air to land

Rebirth in an instant, then calm
