DANCING

      Another nights sleep

All cuddled up in the blankets

      Quiet breathing

      Her eyes closed

She is dancing at the county fair

      Her hair bouncing

      A smile of joy

      The music filling the air

      Someday her Prince will come

      She will be grown

      Tall as the maple

      Outside her window

      Satisfied now with slumber

And dream of what might be

      Innocence in the present

      Twirling across the floor

      The snow is falling

      Still the dream of summer

      Of running in the fields

      Along tall hills, play

      The creek will run again

      She will have her freedom

On the other side of walls

But it is silent this night

      Silent except in her mind
