SPRING DAYS

The sun still cool in the sky as spring approached
Trees turning green with the expected warmth
Needed shade will be found there soon
Then the thunderstorms will come bringing natures drama

Snow now turning and sharing the sky and earth with the rain
The mountains showing the remnants of winter covered in white
With the evergreens interspersed amongst the hillsides
Peaks and ridges reaching upwards, stretching along the range

Days becoming longer, noticeable to the eye and skin
Heat being held by the soil and not relinquishing to the night
Children playing on grass finally wet and green
      After the long winters dormancy

Adults remembering long ago the feel of lighthearted play
When time was meaningless and responsibility was when to return home
The late afternoon breezes caress all who wonder through the out of doors
Finding a little peace in the reflection of what was and will be

Tonights slumber and dreams for all who live
Shall hear the whisper of the day gone by
Take solace that another day will come tomorrow
Much the same as this one, with just enough change for delight in life
