DOORWAY INTO THE MIND

An open door closed by the mind

Where she once ventured into the world

      Fear has taken hold

A life of trepidation and concern

      Unrealistic knowledge controls her thoughts

      Dreams of the unknown

      Whispers in the dark

With each step a new revelation of why not

      Arms closed about her

      Her own hands clutching tightly

      Digging a place to hide

      Deeply inside her flesh

Wishing for the world to disappear

      Thoughts scattering about

      Circles of being lost

      Surrounded by mystifying confusion

      Where has the child gone

      Since adult cant be found

In a universe of closed doors

      All open for everyone else

Too lost to be jealous of others

Or even to think this is incorrect

      This existence was not chosen

      Where the mind doesnt fight

A step taken through a doorway

      Brings anger and unresolved

      Return to find safety

      Where none can be found
