DOWNTOWN ON SATURDAY

      The sidewalks filled with people

      Words and glances exchange

The music and motion of life

      Footsteps falling silently

Small shops attract the interest of passerbys

      Most looking for distraction

      Another Saturday afternoon

With the sun intermittent with clouds

      Buildings old and new

Divided by time and not distance

The age of the City only noticed

      In close examination

The same is said for the shoppers

      Except for the children

      Who would rather be playing

Instead they are taken into this artificial world

      Laughter and tears combine

A child runs circles around a parent

      Singing delightful songs

      Made up and nonsensical

Others watch while holding the young

      Close and tightly in hand

Thinking the street and cars are too close and fast

Drivers with no thought of pedestrians, only destination
