FRIENDS IN THE NIGHT

Suddenly the confusion ends and chaos begins
Walking on a road filled with sharp rocks
Bare feet pierced slightly with each step
The warmth of the sun dissipates with the coming storm

      Wanderers on distant courses
      Mixing in amongst one another
      Intertwined thoughts revolving around
      Words not solid in meaning

      Where understanding once was
      Now only mystifying contemplation
      Strong trees stood tall
Then burn with flames to the ground

Love like granite wears with time and water
Some try to hold onto it
      Keep it together
Then tear at it till it vanishes

A friend speaks of holding a hand out
While withdrawing it in time of need
      Tranquility lost to distrust
      A revelation twisted into misconception

The rocks piece deeper into the flesh
      A reminder of reality
      Trust and stay hidden
      There is safety in darkness

      Wait for the night
      Solitude of emotions
If they see, dont let them see
Sing a song that looks well to the world

      For if they know
They will run into the night
      Never to be seen again
Dont let them near, your heart is what they want to dismiss
