FRIENDS


A lapse in time
A moment forgotten
I didn't see you coming
The sun rose silently

I heard the ocean waves
In your voice so soft on the shore
With your friendship
I have found my El Dorado

There are subtleties in every thought
That passes between us
A simple smile or laugh
And all is known

I have wondered
If there could be danger here
My fears are always
Laid to rest by your eyes unseen

I never sought this communion
I didn't dream it could exist
So my friend if I seem surprised
Just smile and take my hand
