FRIENDS

We went to our usual place
      The one where we met
The sky painted blue with white clouds
There were tears in your eyes

I took your hand from across the table
      Looked into your eyes
You said he had left again
A rose appeared, so I handed it to you

      When life experiences turn sour
You have always been able to come to me
The rose changed to a bouquet
Your smile began and the sun

Started to shine in your eyes
      I took your hand
      We walked for hours laughing
As we have always done for each other

Through all the years, I have known you
Never have are thoughts been apart
      Our hearts remain as friends
      Hand in hand

      We go through life
Smiles and laughter mixed with tears.
