MAN AND SELF

      The template of a man
      Strong in shape and body
      The explorer sometimes lost
      With emotions spread wide

      He sees clearly his destination
      Yet flounders in the quest
      From a point of certainty
      To obscure disillusionment

      Beginning with childhood
Stark realism strikes at his heart
      Do not express the self
      Keep hidden all fears

The unknown is to be sought
      Then conquered like walking
      Down an empty street
So is the way of manhood

In truth he is just human
      Waiting and wanting
To feel soft love, when troubled
The template of a man is diverse

      Do not take pity
      Understand the contradiction
      He is clay and rock
      Solid yet malleable
