MORO BAY

The rock rises from the bay

Storms have tried to take it down

And the waves brush up against it

      Time will decide its fate

The rock stands as a reminder

      Of strength and fleeting monoliths

      The fog surrounds the rock

      But its peak remains uncovered

A beacon for all to see

      Salt air fills His nostrils

He has lived by the ocean all his life

Love and lose, these he has known

And so he always returns to the bay

      To see the rock

      Seemingly unchanged, as is he

But time and life take their toll on a man

He sees the rock in himself

      One as the other

      Knowing an end will come

The rock will turn to sand

      The man to dust

      Who will remember them

When all is gone their spirit will remain

The strength and weaknesses they share

Like the fog coming and going

      Man and stone are transient

From the old comes new form, new identity
