MOUNTAIN DREAMS

      The mountains stand watching

Not interacting with life around them

Man’s follies play like a game

      Leaving scars behind

In stillness the mountains remain majestic

      Unwilling to participate blood shed

Or the smiles of children while dancing

      Obvious to tender footsteps

Not listening to the trumpets of wars

      Time continues through ages

They ignore the passing of generations

      Death and birth are meaningless

      The moon rises and sets

      Light transitioning through the night

Shadows passing from tree to tree

      Up the mountain high above

      Man’s dreams and nightmares

Fading into darkness with each sunrise

Rain turning to rivers of life

As the mountain allows the flow upon its land

      Lightning striking peaks of wonder

In the stillness without love or desire

      Reaching towards the heavens

The mountains taking the seasons throughout time
