NORTHERN LIGHTS


Blue shimmers of incandescent light
Shielding the night sky
The mind floating into the distant past
Finding there ancestors revealed in dreams

The spirits of sky riders
Delivering hope and wisdom
We are all seekers of truth
With waves of insight

A little at a time the universe is shared
The pieces fall into place with intuition as the guide
Grandparents tell us of secrets
Yet they only hint as to their meaning

Hold the child up to the heavens
They see what is dark and bright
Without intent or judgment
Smiles of joy and understanding

The lights to North give their gifts
To one and all look deep into them
Solace and knowledge lie there
Eyes shimmer in the blue light

From the Earth comes harmony of birth
The soil cold and forgiving as the heart of children
Teachings relearned in patience
Unity of love and passion

Continual testing as we walk from day into night
The morning confident of its arrival
Seeing the blue lights fade with the dawn
Returning to the Sun of its origin

Time for the ancestors to return to their resting place
Another night will come and again they will show the way
Wait with open eyes and heart
For that which was will be again
