REMEMBER THAT DAY

Remembrance, they come in the in the night

      Spinning memories in dreams

      Sometimes with smiles

Other times they bring with them the past

To see it over and over, a constant plague

Are they happy and at peace

      How is one to know

      Still they come to visit

Loud noises bring them back in the day

Then the crowds, I must watch ever careful

The reminder they give me is everyone is at risk

To prevent harm, that is my purpose

They have taught me this lesson well

      For over twenty years

There is no more rage and yet less understanding

      To say confusion rules life

When sleep finally comes it is not bliss

I wonder why they dont release my into sunshine

Allow me to move forward, in a reality they no longer exist

      They have gone somewhere else

Is it I holding on, twisting in lament and remorse

They have long since been buried

Forgotten by most and never known by others

Yet in my dreams they live, in remembrance
