SEASONS

I once thought I knew the world
      The seasons changed
      From year to year
I did not shed a tear

      I met you long ago
      You came into my heart
      And found your place there
      I smiled then

      I still feel your warmth
      I hear your gentle laugh
      And feel you touch
      On my hands

      In spring we danced
      With the wild flowers
      The wind swaying us
      To and from

      The summer heat
      And the cool lake
      Swimming from shore to shore
Then sitting to watch the thunderstorms

      The fall brought peace
      With floating leafs
      The promise of change
      Ever lasting in our souls

Winter was time to play again
The snows softly landing on the earth
Again the dance of the seasons
Trees barren, dormant for a time

      Now you are dying
      What happiness will you find
I will feel lost without you
But I will not shed a tear for the changing seasons
