WINGS OF LIGHT

He came to me on Wings of light
I had never seen such beauty
      He stood before me
Now I was in a garden
      All the flowers in bloom

      I couldn't remember from
      Where I had come
      I stood silent in awe
      But not afraid
      Slowly my memory returned

I had been in a house
On a bed waiting I was old
Very old I had lived long and happy
      I reflected on all those
      Who had touched me

      He spoke to me
It was more like a singing
      Gentle and sweet
      He reached out to me
With a hand not quite real

      He said, "walk with me"
      I took his hand
      A path appeared through roses
Of all colors much to my delight
My legs were that of youth

I felt strong alive with joy
He asked me to tell him of my life
I felt he already knew all about me
      But I began to talk
All my memories like a flood

I told him of my first kiss
      And smiled as every thought
      Was relived
Even the painful losses I have survived
      But there was no judgment

I was transcending all that I was
      Releasing one reality
I could see ahead of us a doorway
      I kept speaking
Not holding on to any pretense

      I spoke of friendship
      Of love
How full my life was with family
It was strange that so much was mine
That my experiences had taken me so far

I could see the door widening as walked closer
I peeked ahead and saw a new beginning
      One of completeness
I am to be whole again
      I entered the door

      Light hit me
      Love swallowed my soul
      He released my hand
And once on the other side I smiled
      How wonderful I remember everything
